Former Syracuse wide receiver Lemon signs with Houston Texas as undrafted free agent

Former Syracuse wide receiver Alec Lemon has signed with the Houston Texas as an undrafted free agent. Lemon tweeted about the signing late Saturday.

Lemon, who finished this past season with 1,070 receiving yards, is Syracuse’s all-time leading receiver with 201 career receptions. He also finished last season with 72 receptions, a single-season program record.

Lemon spent most of the season as a slot receiver for the Orange, quickly becoming quarterback Ryan Nassib’s go-to target. He averaged 89.17 receiving yards per game.

Lemon caught for 2,596 yards in his four seasons playing for Syracuse. He also finished with 18 touchdowns.

Despite his impressive numbers for the Orange, the 6-foot-2 Lemon went undrafted in this weekend’s NFL Draft. He was considered a possible late-round pick heading into the draft. At the NFL Combine, he ran a 4.59 40-yard dash and cleared 32 inches on his vertical jump.

While the numbers didn’t persuade a team to draft Lemon, he’s still going to get his chance to play in the NFL with the Texans.
