Scoop Bradshaw and Syracuse lost to Notre Dame in 2016 at MetLife Stadium, 50-33.

Syracuse was originally scheduled to travel to South Bend to face Notre Dame next season, but the game has been relocated to Yankee Stadium, SU announced Thursday. The Nov. 17 game will be SU’s final non-conference game of the 2018 season.

“To play a fantastic opponent like Notre Dame in that building, closer to home, I think is exciting for our fans,” head coach Dino Babers said in a statement. “As coaches and players, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and something we’re very much looking forward to.”

SU has played twice in the new Yankee Stadium since its opening in 2009. It beat Kansas State in the 2010 Pinstripe Bowl and topped West Virginia for the same title in 2012. The Orange owns a 7-1 record at both the old and new Yankee Stadiums dating back to a 3-0 win over Pittsburgh in 1923, and beat Notre Dame at the original stadium in 1963.

The game marks another regular season college football affair in a storied baseball park. Boston College played at Fenway Park this season and faced Notre Dame in the shadow of the Green Monster two years ago. Northwestern has hosted games at Wrigley Field and has an agreement with the Cubs to do so again as early as 2020.

SU’s last two games against the Irish have also been off-campus, losing to the Irish at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in 2014 and 2016. The Orange is 3-5 all-time against Notre Dame and last beat ND in 2008 in South Bend.

The 2018 schedule also includes non-conference games against Western Michigan, Wagner and Connecticut, with the league schedule set to be released next year.
