Syracuse starting center J’Onre Reed has entered the transfer portal, he announced on social media Tuesday. Reed started for SU the last two seasons after transferring from Hutchinson Community College.
Prior to joining the Orange, Reed became an NJCAA Second Team All-American in 2022. With Syracuse in 2023, Reed started every game. He helped running back LeQuint Allen Jr. produce his first 1,000-yard rushing season by playing 815 snaps.
As a senior in 2024, Reed played all but one game, helping Kyle McCord and a potent passing game produce its best season in program history. He totaled 715 snaps.
Reed was presumably out of eligibility, but the ruling of Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia, who started at a Junior College like Reed and was granted an extra year of eligibility because of it, allowed him to explore another year.
Reed becomes the first player post-Holiday Bowl to enter the transfer portal for the Orange.
