Man with prior manslaughter conviction arrested at GSE after SU prohibits non-affiliates from encampment

A Syracuse resident with a prior manslaughter conviction who had been seen in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment was arrested and removed from campus by SU’s Department of Public Safety on Friday, an SU spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Orange.
The man, Eural Warren, was not reported in the area on Thursday after Syracuse University administrators said non-affiliates had to leave the encampment on Wednesday, SU confirmed to The D.O. Thursday.
Warren was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree in 1996. Warren served jail time for the conviction from 1996 to 2014, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
In a Thursday X post, Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, responded to an article from The National Desk about Warren’s presence at the encampment.
“Now we’ve got convicted killers on the loose in these encampments. Jail the lawbreakers. Expel the students. Deport the illegals. Send in the Guard,” Hawley’s post read.
A 1997 appeal of Warren’s conviction states that the victim in the case died “from the cumulative effect of several skull fractures” inflicted by him and another defendant, but “only one of which was caused by the second assailant.”
CNY Central reported that students were aware of Warren’s presence at the encampment and concerned by it.
Warren is not affiliated with SU.
