Multiple Syracuse University online programs received high rankings on U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best Online rankings in its second year of eligibility.

“The recognition of our online bachelor’s programs is exceptional, given that our first year of eligibility to be ranked was 2021,” said Michael Frasciello, the dean of the College of Professional Studies, in a news release. “Our online business management degree launched in fall 2021 and was immediately recognized as a top-10 program.”

SU’s business management degree, a partnership between the College of Professional Studies and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, tied for eighth place for the best online business bachelor’s program.

The university was also recognized as the 59th-best online Bachelor’s program and as the 40th best online Bachelor’s program for veterans, among other recognitions. Both were recognized as ties with other programs as well.

“As our online undergraduate portfolio grows to meet current and emerging career and industry needs, we will remain focused on delivering a differentiated, accessible and high-quality online student experience,” Frasciello said.

SU attributes the success of its online students to the programs’ high acceptance rates and selectivity, according to the release.

Students receive admissions advising, which includes financial aid counseling, upon their application to SU’s online programs. As a part of the counseling, inadmissible students can enroll as non-matriculated students and complete one to three courses to demonstrate themselves to the university before formally applying. Credits earned as a non-matriculated student then transfer to a student’s degree plan.

“Our holistic treatment of the entire online student experience is validated by the U.S. News rankings,” Frasciello said. “We do not limit our definition of the online student experience to the course environment. We engage the student as a learner outside of the course space beginning when they first inquire about our programs.”
