Head coach Quentin Hillsman adds a new backup guard.

Former Rhode Island guard Elemy Colome will transfer to play for Syracuse next season after graduating, she announced in a tweet on Monday.

Colome led the Rams in points per game last season with 14.1 in her first year as a full-time starter in college. The Lawrence, Massachusetts native began her career at James Madison, where she played just one game as a freshman before transferring to Rhode Island the following season.

After sitting out a year, the 5-foot-7 guard played 30 games and started 11 of them for the Rams in her redshirt sophomore season and averaged 7.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. In addition to leading the team in scoring this past season, Colome also led the team in 3-pointers, with 36, and started 27 out of 29 games.

She leaves a program that just hired former Syracuse assistant coach Tammi Reiss as its head coach on April 17.

Colome will join an SU guard group that includes two-time first-team All-ACC point guard Tiana Mangakahia, three-year starter Gabrielle Cooper, and Kiara Lewis, who led all Syracuse reserves in minutes played this past year.
