Eskridge, Gulley to play against Florida State

Syracuse safety Durell Eskridge and running back Prince-Tyson Gulley will play against No. 2 Florida State on Saturday.

Eskridge watched practice on Tuesday while Gulley participated fully.

Both missed the second half of SU’s 20-3 win against Maryland with injuries this past Saturday. Gulley suffered an ankle sprain that held him to just one carry for three yards while Eskridge was sidelined with an upper-body injury.

After the game, cornerback Julian Whigham said Eskridge’s injury was unrelated to the broken right ring finger that kept his hand in a cast for about half of the season.

While it’s still unclear what Eskridge is working through, defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough said the medical staff informed him that Eskridge will be ready to play on Saturday.

He sat out of Tuesday’s practice for precautionary reasons.

“They told me he’s going to be ready to play,” Bullough said. “They just want to take precaution. Always with any injuries you want to take precaution.”

Linebacker Dyshawn Davis confirmed Eskridge’s status.

“You’ll see Durell play this weekend,” Davis said.

Running backs coach DeAndre Smith said Gulley not only returned to practice Tuesday, but also had a great session.

“He’s doing great,” Smith said. “He had a great day today, full speed, making cuts, so I’ll have all hands on deck.”‬

Running back Jerome Smith agreed.

Said Smith: ‪“He’s doing good. He practiced fast, looked good. Faster than usual.”‬
